International Accreditation from IRU

IRU (International Road Transport Union):

The IRU, namely International Road Transport Union, is a union founded in the capital of Switzerland, Geneva on March 23th, 1948 by the UNECE (United Economic Commission for Europe). The institution that aims to defend the interests of road transport operators in particular also has the main objective of ensuring economic growth within a sustainable mobility of people and goods and providing prosperity. Non-governmental organisations and unions founded in different countries which are directing processes concerned with international trade and transportation related to road transportation, are also present amongst the members.

Accreditation:

In 2014, we as the School of Transportation and Logistics of the Istanbul University have signed an accreditation agreement with the International Road Transport Union (IRU), which will entitle all of our students to the Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) in addition to their bachelor’s and master’s degree.

In virtue of this certificate honored by the IRU, the place of the faculty students in the sector will be strengthened, especially in such companies which operate in the logistics sector and are defined as road transport operators; planning and organising the transport of all kinds of goods and performing transportation applications.

Sectoral Collaborations

The School of Transportation and Logistics which is Turkey’s first logistics higher education institution was founded by the leading support of the logistics industry. Our largest supporter the International Transporters’ Association (UND) have supported for the construction of our modern faculty building and provides the special scholarship for our faculty’s successful students. Similarly, the other important institution, is the Association of International Forwarding and Logistics Service Providers (UTIKAD) are always with us whenever we ask for help and cooperation.

Our school receives support from the two most important non-governmental organisations in the field of logistics in Turkey and is the leading educational institution regarding the direction of the sector. Collaboration is carried out in various organisations and activities with several companies which are actually operating in the sector. These collaboration is carried out in various ways; supporting the internship of our students, sponsorship of activities performed by the school administration or the students, supporting activities carried out to promote the industry, sponsoring of field trips and studies etc. The graduates of our faculty have obtained the right to enter the certification exam for the Senior Managers Certification exempt from further training, this certification is required by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication for companies which intend to operate in the transport sector. Our graduates have also right to directly obtain the mid-level manager certificate which is also issued by the Ministry of Transport.

Erasmus+

The Erasmus+ Program is designated by the European Union to have higher education institutions cooperate, develop and bring to life common projects, exchange students, academicians and personnel over a short period of time and one that is adequately funded unconditionally. More than 2 million higher education students have benefited from the Erasmus+ program since 1987. Istanbul University has a total of 567 agreements with the European Union countries.

The School of Transportation and Logistics have 10 agreements with creditable institutions from Germany, Holland, Portugal, Croatia, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Lithuania and Slovenia for Erasmus+ learning, internship and teaching mobility.

Mevlana Exchange Programme

Mevlana Exchange Programme is a programme which aims the exchange of students and academic staff between the Turkish higher education institutions and higher education institutions of other countries. With the regulation published in August 23, 2011 (num: 28034), students and academic staff exchange between Turkish higher education institutions and higher education institutions of other countries has been possible. Different from other exchange programmes, Mevlana Exchange Programme includes all higher education institutions in the world regardless of their region.

The students registered in formal education programmes at higher education institutions in Turkey (on condition that the higher education institutions signed a bilateral Mevlana Exchange Protocol) may benefit from Mevlana Exchange Programme.

Additionally, all academic staff who works in a national or foreign higher education institution, on condition that the higher education institutions signed a bilateral Mevlana Exchange Protocol, may benefit from Mevlana Exchange Programme.
